Scottish Cup Final 2008

Penicuik v Ferguslie

Penicuik stepped up their Scottish Cup giant-killing act last night to stun holders Greenock and earn a place in the final against Ferguslie.

Stuart Chalmers emerged as the home hero at Kirkhill by striking an unbeaten 101 to guide the First Division side to glory by two wickets with five balls to spare.

The turning point came when Penicuik were still needing 18 to win and Ciaran Begley spilled a simple catch to let Chalmers off the hook.

Greenock had made 185 for nine, Dougie Wylie top scoring with 53.

The Final is to be played this Sunday, 24th August, at Uddingston Cricket Club.

We are considering a bus, however we need to know, ASAP, how many and who are prepared to travel on a coach.

Initial idea is that the bus would leave Penicuik, pick up points to be determined, circa at 10am, departing Uddingston at 8pm, latest.

Final is normally a 12pm start. This has yet to be confirmed. There may also be an entry fee, payable to the host club initially with the monies going to the SCU.
